One day I will come up with a cool name for where I get my ideas when someone asks. Not that anyone has of yet, but you know, for down the road.
Feast or Famine. The pendulum swings between the two with no predictability.
They hit you at all the worse times, when you can’t write them down but you’re sure you’ll remember them. They dance just out of reach when you have all the time in the world.
I’m making more of an effort to keep track of the pesky buggers. To have a single journal for them instead of scattered files on the computer. Feast for the times of Famine.
In what is considered to be the origin of the term ‘plot bunny’, the following quote is attributed to John Steinbeck: “Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.”
I want to learn better cultivation of ideas. To have it be a more reliable tool. Or at least to learn what to do til they come by.

Have you tried Evernote, SimpleNote, Google Keep, OneNote, etc? They run on multiple platforms, so you can install them on whatever platforms you have (smartphone, desktop, tablet, etc.), and then your notes are always in one place. My preference is Evernote, but all of them can do the trick. Then you can cut-and-paste or import all those little files you have all over your computer and add more. Just a suggestion…

I have Evernote on my laptop, just haven’t played with it yet.

Lol. I understand what you mean. I have SEVERAL dozen papers scattered here and there. Some in my purse, in the car, in my pants pocket, its never ending. I like the plot bunny. Need to get that concept down. Have a great day

I used to have the same problem especially when I started my first novel. But after the second novel, the ideas just flow like Niagara Falls… I have to capture them on paper and decide which ones have the best potential for a full-length novel and which ones only merit a short story or novella. Trust me, one day you’re going to hit that sweet spot and the ideas will flow as if you’d just struck oil. 🙂
