Told you I was going to see you this week. But it was a bit of a cheat, cause I knew what I was going to tell you about.

Damn, do I love our Comicon! Was only able to go yesterday (last year did all four days). Third year for me, second for my best friend (known hereafter on this blog as MBM for Me Best Mate) That’s me on the left with the grey hair.

We didn’t plan on going to any of the panels or trying for any autographs, save for one on my part. We mostly wandered around the exhibitor’s hall looking at the merchandise. We did catch Chuck Wendig’s spotlight panel.

20150531_111411I looked at a few pics and merch for Tom!Loki before deciding on this one. Was the best quality and just a great pic. By the by, I wrote it as Tom!Loki on purpose. It comes from the fanfic world where we use the exclamation mark to describe different versions of characters (AU!Character, Vampire!Character).  This is Loki as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, not Loki as most Heathens know Him.

Arthur and PatsyDid not expect such Royalty to be present.

Next year, MBM and I are planning to go and try our hand at cosplaying for the first time. She’s thinking of going as a character from one of her favorite animes. I have no idea who I want to be, or even a top five to pick from. Won’t be a complex costume, more subtle but recognizable.

We’re one of the top ten cons in the country and the guests we get are incredible. Here’s the list of the ones from TV and Movies. You can click on the link under the banner for guests in the other categories.

The expected turnout this year was 80,000. I’ll let you know what the final number winds up being. We were trending on both Facebook and Twitter this weekend.

Tomorrow starts the June Session of Camp NaNoWriMo. I wasn’t going to do it. Then I was going to redo the project from the April Session that I tried as a screenplay, but was going to do as a novel. Now I’m thinking of putting that off til November and just doing a fun fantasy novel, more befitting Summer. We’ll see how it goes.

EDIT: Second session is actually in July. More time to be indecisive.

Been a long time, I know. Glad you were able to make it.

Life continues on. Work is work *wrinkles nose* what can ya do?

I have seen Avengers 2 and YAY my name is in it! MCU Canon, baby!

Work not changing, my best friend and I should be going to our local Comicon on Saturday. With any luck I’ll get Chuck Wendig’s autograph.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, not to be confused with Veteran’s Day. In my religion, those who died in battle and were taken to Valhalla are called the Einherjar. (On a side note, that is the only way to get into Valhalla. It is not Heaven. You don’t get in for being a good little Heathen.)

Going to try and do the National Moment of Remembrance tomorrow. Be working so have to see.

My writing practices have not been as I’ve hoped. I have only myself to blame. Old habits and such. Need to change.

I do wish to continue on with how I view life. As an opportunity to experience things. Even if it is only the inside of my own brain. To grow and learn.
(Another side note. That paragraph was written without me knowing what the next word was going to be as I was typing. Little nudge from the brainpan.)

The weather has been unseasonably nice for this time of year, chilly at night even.

And I want to raise a cup to my fellow Snakes! Slytherin has won our third House Cup at Pottermore, more than any other House!

Drabble – The Keep

The Hold

I saw the Keep before me, a shadow in the dying day. Bordering a black swamp.

I learned all the whispered stories of it. All the fears the local people barred their doors against in the night.

They all warned me to stay away. To leave and never return. It was a curse of this land and one they had to bear for living here. But I was a stranger. I had the chance to escape.

If only they knew. While I was a stranger, my blood was not.

And they knew nothing of curses. But I would teach them.

Drabble – Woods

Fall

I was walking in a wood of flame.

Around me were the colors of autumn. A chill breeze now and again whispered of approaching whiteness, but for now fire still held sway.

I stopped at a bridge that echoed the colors around it. In the ancient wood I saw the reds, yellows, and a hint of the lost green.

As I crossed, I felt for a second the fire on my skin. Heard the crackling of flames. Smelled the burning.

Later I would mourn this vision, as the leaves disappeared and all was covered.

But for now, I was home.

Ah, xcuses. I’ve had a few.

Even my ability has been used. I can do that at the last minute and have it work cause I’ve done it in the past.

Xcuses not to write right now. Not to read.

Valid to a point but so overused. Not lacking in credibility, mind you. Just in merit.

Needing of being swept away.

Often easier said than done.

That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?

Why do I do this?

It is a heady, crazy thing.

Maybe there’s a bit of the megalomania about it. God complex, anyone?

Is it the thrill of it all?

Is it a pathological need?

Genius or madness? Such a thin line after all.

Why do I keep coming back to it? Is it the one thing I am good at? I can’t sing (though I do). I’m marginal at playing an instrument.

But writing?

Yeah.

Hello, sorry it’s been so long since we’ve met.

I wish I could say I’ve been busy, but I’ve really just been lazy.

I did catch up on Vikings before the series finale. And spent a lovely afternoon with my best friend walking around downtown yesterday.

Work still a stressor but that is a given.

My lack of writing is staggering, my reading even more so.

I must amend this and I shall. You will understand come Thursday.

Friday shall be the new day.

I shall start small. An hour set aside per day. Past obligations seen to.

Now to come up with the proper consequences for noncompliance.
